For many summers, during the 90’s and early 2000’s, The Silton Swim Team has participated in the American Cancer Society's Swim Marathon. This event raised cancer awareness and money towards cancer research and local families. In 2006, Coach Danielle and her husband, Philip, lost their close friend, Douglas Rillo, to brain cancer. Doug was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the fall of 2005 while attending Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Doug fought an amazing battle for a year but lost his fight on September 21, 2006. Doug was 21 years old. In 2007, the Silton Swim Team continued the ACS Swim Marathon tradition and established Silton vs. Cancer in honor of Douglas Rillo. Beginning in 2016, Silton vs. Cancer has partnered with The Emmanuel Cancer Foundation in Wall Township, New Jersey. Proceeds from our event are donated to local families throughout Monmouth County, New Jersey.

The Dennis Drohan Memorial began in 1999 in upstate New York. In 2001 it was held at the famed Bethpage Golf Course in Long Island, NY where Dennis Drohan grew up. Dennis was just 37 when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He succumbed to the disease just 6 months later leaving behind a wife and three young children.

After a 2 year hiatus we are extremely proud to bring the event back and to team up with The Emmanuel Cancer Foundation.

In 2024, the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation (ECF) marks its 41st year of providing support to New Jersey's pediatric cancer patients and their families. We are very excited to commemorate this important milestone while charting a course for the future. ECF is New Jersey’s premier, free-of-charge, in-home support agency for children diagnosed with cancer and their families, offering comfort and support when families need it most.

We will be hosting our Annual Yoga, Wine and Chocolate on March 14, 2024, featuring a 45 minute yoga session, then delicious chocolate and wine afterwards.

This year, we are asking the business friends in our community to show their support with a contribution or donation of either chocolates, wine or a gift card to purchase these items.
