Meet Briguitte

Briguitte’s mom describes her daughter as “always wanting others to be happy, despite all her own suffering.”

Diagnosed at 10 with leukemia, she had eight months of chemo which resulted in a blood infection, allergic reactions, and multiple bouts of COVID due to her weakened immune system.

Her mom said ECF’s services helped “push them through as a family.” In-home counseling with their ECF caseworker allowed her to “vent” and helped her forget the intensity and stress of Briguitte’s chemo and hospital stays. She also said it was such a relief to receive financial assistance and that the holiday gifts ECF provided their family of five “made their Christmas a happy one despite all the financial difficulty.”

Though Briguitte still receives chemo, her doctors are optimistic that she could “ring the bell” and finish the treatment in October. She enjoys Roblox, painting, dancing, singing and making her doctors and nurses dance and sing. She dreams of being a nurse or a veterinarian. “Briguitte has been vary valiant and resilient,” says her mom. “We are very proud of her.”
